Boat arrives in Benghazi from Misrata (4)

leave a comment »

Nothing prepares you to war… A wounded Libyan man is being taken care of by doctors and nurses in the hospital on a boat that transported some 600 passengers from Misrata to Benghazi. The man sustains serious head injuries following fighting in Misrata. 50 Libyan wounded persons were also on board. Six doctors from the International Medical Corps (IMC), assisted by volunteer doctors, Libyan medical students and nurses, were making sure that their patients were stabilized – such as this man- until they reach Benghazi and get transported by ambulances to hospitals in the city. IMC estimates that they assisted 350 wounded persons evacuated on boats since mid-April. UNHCR / H. Caux / May 22, 2011
